Isomag Bearing Isolators Keep Water Out Of Black Clawson Hydropulper Gearbox

June 6, 2018

Isomag bearing isolators solve bearing contamination issues in vertical Black Clawson pulper gearboxes for paper mills across North America. International Paper in Cantonment Florida was having issues with water ingress to their gearbox. The lip seals typically installed would wear out in 6-8 months of use, and then lose it's sealing properties. The water into the bearing housing quickly followed, and caused early failures to the Black Clawson Hydropulper

The input shaft of vertical pulper gearboxes in paper mills see pulp build-up that is typically removed by heavy wash-down operations. This leads to inevitable bearing contamination. International paper in Cantonment addressed this problem and approached Isomag for a solution. The result was a custom Isomag MD V8-XL pulp shearing seal. Since installed in 2015 the customer no longer sees bearing failure in these vertical pulper gearboxes.
