Isomag Bearing Isolators Keep Water Out of Philadelphia P-Tech 12 Mixer

June 22, 2018

Chemours in Memphis, Tennessee, was having difficulty keeping water out the bearing housing of their Philadelphia P-Tech 12 Mixer. The initial dry well design was unable to stop the ingress of water during heavy wash down, and the fire hose would spray right into the housing. This lead to the shortening of the life of the Mixer. The gearbox rebuilder, CB Gear and Chemours came to Isomag to find a solution.

Isomag manufactured the MD style seal, in stainless steal because the product it is mixing is sodium cyanid, which is designed to prevent water ingress in heavy wash down applications. Installed vertically, the MD style Isomag bearing isolator is sure to keep the external contamination out of the Philadelphia P-Tech 12 Mixer. With the professional work done by CB Gear, and the addition of the Isomag bearing isolator, the Philadelphia Mixer is sure to see 10+ years of problem free operation.
